The People's Water Campaign "Ear to the Groundwater Walking Tour" is one of the ways we are elevating the grassroots community groups who are fighting back against these threats. It is time to connect the dots and surface the attack on groundwater happening in Ontario in the name of private profit.
Led by Musician Shane Phillips, the "Water for Life, Not Wall Street" Walk is the first in a series of walking tours to take place this summer to gather information, elevate conversation on the issues, and connect the individual fights for groundwater protection happening across Ontario, leading up to the People's Water Convention on October 2nd, 2021.
Join CSGW and Wellington Water Watchers, tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug 10 as we rally in support of protecting our farmland and water.
9:00 - 10:00 am - 2031 Bleams Rd E, Petersburg (Shingletown)
Join others as we rally in support of CSGW and WWW. Listen to updates, sign the petition, smile for a photo, meet others. Volunteers have been making signs that speak to the importance of our farmland and water.
10:00 - 11:00 am - 2298 Bleams Rd, Petersburg (Laepple Organics Farm)
Walk down Bleams Road in support of protecting our farmland and water. We will stop off at Laepple Organics Farm to collect water. The Shingletown wells are some of the top producing wells in Waterloo Region, and this water gets sent all of the ways up to Elmira where they can no longer drink their well water because of contamination.
11:00 - 12:45 pm - Walk with us to Castle Kilbride
Join Shane from Wellington Water Watchers as he walks to Castle Kilbride. This walk is part of the third leg of the Ear To The Groundwater tour organized by Wellington Water Watchers. The purpose of these walks is to raise awareness of the devastating effect gravel quarries have on communities and the environment and how Doug Ford’s agenda for new highways and more urban sprawl will devour our future.
We will be walking West on Bleams, North on Sandhills Rd, West on Gingerich Rd, North on Foundry St, West on Snyder’s Rd to Castle Kilbride.
1:00 - 2:00 pm - Castle Kilbride
We will finish our walk at Castle Kilbride where
Citizens for Safe Ground Water
Wellington Water Watchers
Ontario Farmers Association
Food System Roundtable of Waterloo Region
will speak about the importance of farmland and water. Sign our petition, purchase a sign, speak with us to learn more.
