I am concerned that we are taking for granted our incredible water resources. And based on the fact that this is a protected area, I object to this land use.

Must economic endeavours be considered over and above protecting our environment? We need to leave some land for our children that hasn’t been obliterated in the pursuit of profit.

It’s very disturbing that your mayor speaks of a “done deal” prior to submission of an application. I hope you are successful!

I am writing you Mayor and the Council with deep concern about the well being of families in our community.

The proposed gravel pit and ash fault recycling plant has probably already informed you of the health risks associated with dust in the air and chemical oxidization from ground ash fault. This pollution will negatively impact the area and change the neighbouring farm lands, to impacting the water we drink with pride.

Aside for the individual health concerns, think about the devastation in proceeding with the proposal. For the community, town and council.

Between negatively impacting family health and the environment, you face the realization of decreasing property values and changing the footprint to this place we call home.

The financial benefit of the pit is far less than baring the costs and liabilities your assembly can handle as it needs to consider safety.

We trust in your judgement to protect our families and your community.

    Thank you.

I strongly oppose this gravel pit proposal. From its environmental impacts regarding water qualities to the foreseeable decades of devastation from noise, dirt, dust and smells associated with these types of operations, the Council should bare full responsibilities associated with liabilities including loss of nearby property values and health issues that arise from gravel pits. We are not in support of this gravel pit and asphalt recycling plan in the historic village of Shingletown and trust the Council and Mayor will make the right decision to protect its people, community character and health of our children and environment.
